  • COVID Guidelines
We have been working with our vendors, board of directors, Lancaster Service Safety Director and Fairfield County Department of Health to create a plan that keeps real food within reach while also keeping us all safe.

We will depend on your cooperation for safety and success. You can help by keeping an eye out for how the market will operate, for any changes as we move through the season, and by communicating these new guidelines to friends in order to help get the word out. Thanks more than ever for your support of our local producers!

We take our responsibility to our farmers and producers and to you, our customers, very seriously. Our role to connect people with good food is more important than ever in these times. And we recognize that safety is our number one concern right now and must be at the forefront of all our decisions and plans. Minimizing risk from COVID-19 for not only our customers, but also our vendors, staff and volunteers will be paramount.

General Guidelines
We will encourage vendors to utilize pre-order/pre-paid sales as much as possible. This allows for access to local foods while encouraging contact-free transactions and social distancing at the market and providing a safer atmosphere for our customers and vendors. Vendors may collect orders & payments earlier in the week with the platform of their choice, and the market will advertise each vendor’s procedure. Vendors who choose to conduct in person transactions must do so in adherence to established guidelines.

Vendors will set up booths, not too different from our normal configuration, but with extra space  in between booths. There will be metered pedestrian traffic into the market, with a widened central pedestrian aisle. Customers will enter from one location and exit via one location. We will use chalk, caution tape, and signage to communicate new procedures. Parking will remain the same, in the lot across Chestnut Street.

If we have more customers at a time than are allowed in the space, we will mark out places to wait 6 ft apart down the sidewalk. 8:30 - 9:00 will be reserved for vulnerable populations, market will run 8:30 - 12:00.

We will cancel all extracurricular activities (music, children’s activities, community organizations, cooking demos, etc) until further notice.

We will re-evaluate throughout the season based on the facts and recommendations available to us.
